The Vintage
Of late making wines in Northern California has been a delicate dance between early season warmth and hang time. 2010 was a bit of an anomaly, wherein the long cool summer provided tremendous phenolic development but sugar accumulation and flavor development were slower to follow. Fortunately Mother Nature brought some late heat and another great vintage was born.
Tasting Notes
The 2010 Ampère is a classic New World Cabernet pairing a traditional profile of red fruit and tobacco with a generous, textured midpalate and mouth coating, fine grained tannin. A wine of considerable density buffered by natural acidity and structure, decant if consumed in the near term or cellar and enjoy over the next 5 – 15 years.
